Maybe some of those points were right, maybe some of them were false, and perhaps you'll find a few things that not every reviewer (including the user reviewers) have pointed out on. Besides, they do give some useful insights. Like I said, I agree with what you said about reviews, but honestly, just as long it is in-depth and isn't overly positive nor overly negative, I'm fine with someone giving his/her opinion on a game that I liked or don't like. I'm glad you're enjoying it, but honestly, excusing a game like this by saying that "it's based on one of their favorite IPs", would be like defending a mediocre online only game by saying that "it's fun with friends. And then there's Knights of Britannia, based on one of my favorite animes, which ended up being a disappointment for me, meaning that not every fans will love it.Īnd look, if you like Jump Force, that's awesome. But as gamew as a whole? They're filled with many design flaws that prevents it from being a game recommendable for anyone other than the fans. Does that mean that they're good games overall? No. I mean, I'm a huge fan of Jojo and Little Witch Academi, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get some mild enjoyment from Eyes of Heaven and Chamber of Time. Especially when it comes to licensed games, where they call the game fantastic because they're fans of the franchise(s) it's used. I know most will defend these flaws because they're mostly annoyances, but if these becomes too common or aggrevating, that's where it becomes a real issue. I've played games like Hidden Dragon Legend and Natural Doctrine that were praised immensely by users, while for me, they were mediore at best, with (serious) flaws that were overshadowed. Thu 14th Feb Personally, while not every reviews are bound to be trusted, you can say with most user reviews as well, cause just like critics, they're usually either too positive or too negative.Visually, it's ugly as hell, which considering it's not exactly going to be a deep, tournament fighter, is a big blow since most of the appeal is the visual charm of your favourite characters fighting. Personally, I love fighting games and WSJ series, especially One Piece, and this looks pretty mediocre at best. If they hate shounen and fighting games, then obviously ignore it. And there's a reason there's text to a review, not just a number you can gain context and adjust the score accordingly. It's extremely unlikely a game is good if it gets 1/10 from every website you read. Back in the 90s, we had nothing to go on apart from magazine reviews, not even a trailer - apart from in extremely rare instances when a game got a TV ad, like OoT (and that was an awful ad □)Īlso, it does normally give you a pretty good idea if you look at a wide variety of reviews. If anything it's better now because rather than people basing it on whatever one magazine they got each month, they have hundreds of websites and YouTube channels to get a much better idea. Thu 14th Feb it's not "nowadays", people would do the same with gaming mags in the 80s and 90s too.Jump Force is a huge celebration of some of the most iconic manga in history, but it fails to do any of them justice. ![]() Jump Force is a visual mess, It lacks the fun and charm that a wild crossover like this should embrace, and It's just a technical mess from top to bottom. The Sixth Axis - 3/10Ĭrossover games are nothing new to Bandai Namco or Shonen Jump, so it surprises and disappoints me to see that none of the good aspects or successful mechanics of these previous games made their way into Jump Force at all. This is an older brawler in an HD skin: if you want something more than that, look elsewhere. The core is good, it's just let down by some odd design choices and an average campaign. Like the Dissidia series, Jump Force is something I'm going to be coming back to for random bits of fun throughout the years. One would probably be better off focusing on the core fighting game aspects though. Jump Force knows that it’s really for the Shonen Jump fans and if you are a fan there’s plenty to like here. What this game is really about is fan service and I must admit that it succeeds in offering folks up a hefty chunk in that department.
